New research scientist/PostDoc at the Research Group

In April 2024, Mr. Harison Kipkulei joined Prof. Dr. Katharina Waha’s research group for climate resilience of human-made ecosystems as a research assistant. Prior to joining the 威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】 of Augsburg, he was a doctoral researcher at the Sustainable Land Use in Developing Countries (SusLAND) working group at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF).

His doctoral project focused on integrating remote sensing analysis and process-based crop modelling for assessing maize production and evaluating the potential of cropland management practices for enhancing production at spatial-explicit scales. Furthermore, he applied the integration approach to analyze the differential impacts of climate change on future maize production. In addition to his doctoral project, he was involved in other research projects within the centre. He was a research assistant in the landscape modelling working group, where he was involved in two projects in Kenya. The projects focused on monitoring agricultural drought and assessing crop-specific responses to climate stressors using Earth observation data and modelling approaches.
