Abstract: Inverse problems, or the problem of inferring unknown causes from observed effects, represent an important methodology at the intersection of applied mathematics, statistics, and diverse application domains. This workshop focuses on the application within the atmospheric sciences, encompassing both practical challenges and theoretical advancements, with a particular emphasis on data assimilation. Our aim is to bring together researchers from the diverse communities, ranging from theoretical to applied, to foster collaboration and enable fruitful discussions. In addition, our workshop will feature tutorial-style lectures and is therefore of interest for both established and younger researchers.
