The Allard Pierson (威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】 of Amsterdam) is conducting research into the provenance history of the archaeological collections over the period 2023-2027. There is little information available on the provenance of many of these approximately 20,000 artefacts from around the 威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】iterranean, Western Asia, and Northern Africa. The Allard Pierson intends to investigate these gaps, gather as much information on the items as possible and make it available to the public, taking responsibility for unveiling and combatting the ongoing illicit trade in antiquities. Crucially, this also means to actively participate in the societal debate on heritage ownership, both in the Netherlands and in the source countries of the collection.
