Interaction of Mathematics and Technical Biology at the interface of microfluidic applications
Date: 25.06.25 - 26.06.25
Abstract:
This workshop is aimed at PhD students and postdocs from the fields of Mathematics and Technical Biology to work at the intersection of these disciplines in the area of microfluidic systems. The goal of the workshop is to foster interdisciplinary communication and develop a better understanding of each other's work. Often, mathematicians and biologists work with different concepts, terminologies, and perspectives, which can lead to misunderstandings and communication barriers. This workshop aims to break down these barriers through hands-on activities.

Algebraic Models in Data Science and Quantum Systems
Date: 09.10.25 - 10.10.25
Abstract:
Algebraic methodology has in recent years proven to be a very versatile framework to tackle problems in applied sciences and data. Key advances include the evolution of algebraic statistics into an increasingly active research area that not only provides models for statistical data analysis but also finds numerous applications in other fields like phylogenetics, chemical reaction networks and more recently quantum chemistry. In this workshop we bring together people from the field of applied algebra with scientists working on data science and quantum systems with the goal of fostering fruitful interactions and further expanding the use of algebraic methods in the sciences.

?Recent advancements in electronic structure calculations
Date: 22.10.25 - 24.10.25
Abstract:
Functional materials are ubiquitous in our daily life. To tailor material properties, tools are needed that predict the properties accurately without free parameters, starting from the basic laws of quantum mechanics. The development of such tools is a goal of both theoretical solid-state physics and quantum chemistry. This workshop will bring together experts in electronic structure theory, especially the community of TURBOMOLE developers and users, to highlight selected applications, demonstrate new features and capabilities of the code, present new theoretical developments, identify new user needs, and discuss future directions.
