Born and raised in a small town in the picturesque South Indian state of Kerala, I am a lover of the Arabian sea, the monsoon, and the Indian Chai. A flaneuse of Indian cities, I am interested in observing the contradictions that sustain life around me. A post-graduate in English literature, I have lived the roles of a teacher for little kids, a lecturer for undergraduate students and a part time teaching assistant. Growing up in a globalizing India, I was inspired by environmental justice struggles near home and away, where the common people led by women and indigenous groups fought against the global multinational cooperations (MNCs). My understanding of the environment, shaped through such grassroots struggles, aligns with the approach of political ecology, and argues for a radical social change to alleviate the planetary environmental crisis we are in.

Writing Ecologies of Resistance: A Study on Environmental Justice Narratives from the Extractive Economies of the Global South.

My project analyses environmental justice narratives from the Global South that depict unequal environments created by social inequalities. The project attempts to re-imagine environment as an active agent that affects and is affected by the capitalist world system and locates the resistance movements within a wider political framework of social struggles and uneven distribution.
