Research Interests

My research and teaching focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning for real-time multimedia applications. I am also a professor at the 威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】 of Music Würzburg.?My dissertation focused on reinforcement learning in the context of human-robot interaction with social, humanoid robots. The goal was to adapt the machine to the user based on human social cues.

Content Creation for Virtual Environments

The Master lecture, which I established for the summer semester 2023, deals with basics of manual and procedural content creation for virtual real-time environments (e.g. games/simulations and virtual reality) and gives insight into the interface between art and computer science. The focus is on graphics, supplemented by fundamentals of sound and music. In the exercise course, the techniques and concepts are put into practice.

Reinforcement Learning

The Master lecture, which I established for the winter semester 2015/16, covers fundamentals, algorithms and methods of reinforcement learning, which are deepened, implemented and explored and simulated in the exercise course. Contents include the Markov decision problem, dynamic programming, Monte Carlo problems, TD learning, linear and nonlinear function approximation.

Practical Course Reinforcement Learning

The Master course, which I established and offered until the summer semester of 2022, applied selected techniques and concepts of reinforcement learning to the context of HCI and HRI.
