The Institute for Software & Systems Engineering (ISSE), directed by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Reif, is a scientific institution within the Faculty of Applied Computer Science at the ÍþÄá˹¶Ä²©ÓÎÏ·_ÍþÄá˹¶Ä²©app-¡¾¹ÙÍø¡¿ of Augsburg. It was founded to further invigorate and push?the main research in Augsburg by pooling strengths and competences. In research, the institute supports both fundamental and application-oriented research in all areas of software and systems engineering. In teaching, the institute facilitates the further development of the faculty's and university's relevant course offerings.

AI-based control systems for machines, plants, and process chains

Over the next three years, the Bavarian research alliance ¡°Intelligent Manufacturing Processes & Closed-Loop Production¡± (FORinFPRO) will be researching fundamental concepts for process-specific sensor and condition monitoring, as well as the data-based modelling, control, and optimisation of manufacturing processes. The project has been funded by the Bayerische Forschungsstiftung to the tune of around €2 million. Tobias Gotthardt, Bavarian State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy, handed over the confirmation of funding today.

"Best Student Paper Award" for Matthias St¨¹ben, Alexander Poeppel und Wolfgang Reif

The paper "External Torque Estimation for Mobile Manipulators: A Comparison of Model-based and LSTM Methods" by Matthias Stueben, Alexander Poeppel and Wolfgang Reif received the Best Student Paper Award at the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Robotic Computing, which took place from 5 - 7 December in Naples, Italy. The award is given to the best submission with a bachelor's, master's or PhD student as its first author.
