TEAM
Research
Health care research is the scientific study of the structures and processes of our health system. The aim is to optimize its functions for everyday care and thus achieve economic efficiency, patient and employee orientation, quality, and humanity to the same extent. The tasks of health services research include:
- Investigation of the influencing factors of medical and therapeutic care for patients in their everyday lives
- Determining the benefits of new diagnostic methods
- Investigation of the economic aspects of care
- Quality research on health care services
- Investigation of the working conditions of doctors and other health professions
- Investigation of?the relationship between doctor/doctor and patient/patient
- Demand and utilization research
CURRENT STUDIES / PROJECTS
SISYPHOS?(Structured Implementation of Digital, Systematically Updated Guideline Recommendations for Optimized Therapist Coherence in Schizophrenia)
This project aims to improve the transfer between science and practice. In the future, guidelines should therefore be designed as "living guidelines" and reflect the current evidence-based state of knowledge. Therefore, the researchers at SISYPHOS develop a generic procedure manual and implement it in a pilot project with subsequent evaluation. It also examines which factors promote or inhibit the application of the guideline, and whether an app-based, digital provision of the guideline, including decision-making aids, is superior to the printed form. This digital tool is called Evidence Eco-System MAGICapp. An observational study serves to investigate why current guidelines are only insufficiently implemented; to this, practitioners are interviewed. In addition, it is investigated whether the guideline implementation using the Living Guideline (MAGICapp) leads to a better application compared to conventional implementation methods (guideline in print format). The project will be funded for 18 months, for a total of about 750,000 euros. If successful, the results of SISYPHOS can be used directly for an update of the German S3 guideline on schizophrenia. By making the guideline available as a "Living Guideline", evidence-based knowledge on the treatment of people with schizophrenia will also be available at any time and without the usual multi-year delay.

Revision: S3 guideline on schizophrenia
The S3 guideline on schizophrenia was the first DGPPN guideline and was last completely revised in 2019. According to the S3 guideline methodology of the AWMF, the S3 guideline on Schizophrenia is updated on the basis of new systematic literature research, guideline adaptations, and expert consensus. It will remain an evidence- and consensus-based guideline based on the AWMF S3 guideline. The transfer to a living guideline will be carried out by the methodology of the Living Systematic Reviews (LSR) and the evidence ecosystem MAGICapp. Furthermore, a complete GRADE process will be carried out for all areas of the guideline for the first time, and all recommendations will be reviewed once again. There will then be annual updates to the guideline: The basics for the methodology of the Living Guideline can be found at the AWMF and were developed by the project SISYPHOS. Our claim is to develop a guideline that can be adopted by other international organizations in the form of guideline adaptation, as provided by MAGICapp. Furthermore, a patient guideline, a guideline for GPs (together with DEGAM), as well as a multilingual publication (English (as before), new: Arabic, Russian, Turkish) are planned.
