Research profile: experimental solid state physics
Crystal growth and low temperature physics in strongly correlated electron systems: magnetism, frustration, critical behavior, quantum phase transitions.
?
Design and discovery of new states of matter, especially quantum materials by crystal growth and characterization:
- Exploration of magnetic ground states, whose complexity is arising due to competing interactions, e.g. in magnetically frustrated systems
- Investigation of phase transitions and critical properties, particularly with regard to universality
?
Selected Topics
- Frustration and quantum criticality: CePd1?xNixAl
- Frustration in metals: HoInCu4, HoInAg2-xAux
- Quantum critical heavy fermion systems: CeCu6?xAux, CeCoIn5
- Spin and orbital frustration: (Fe,Mn)Sc2S4
- Unconventional Superconductivity in Iron-pnictides: EuRbFe4As4
