Research Statement
The research group Information Systems and Management is investigating the transformative effects, information technology (IT) is taking within and between organizations as well as in society. Unit of analysis is on the one hand the organizational level, like e.g. enterprises and public administrations, on the other hand, the individual level, like e.g. customer, user and citizen.
?
Phenomena arising in the digital business models domain with a particular focus on entrepreneurship, pricing, value creation, sustainability, competition and data protection stand in the center of investigation. Further fields of research reside in the adoption and diffusion as well as effects of innovative IT artifacts and services. Herein, particularly the effects and usage of technologies like cloud computing, electronic services and smart electricity grids are current research topics. Within the public sector, issues of interoperability, regulation and feasibility of IT systems as well as their effects on societal and political developments stand in the foreground.
?
Quantitative and qualitative empirical research methods are applied for theory building research as well as a deep understanding and explanation of such phenomena. The aim is twofold. Aim one is to generate theoretical insights and distribute these towards a scientific public. Aim two is to forecast developments and derive best practices and governance guidelines for decision makers from practice, industry and political domains.
