Networking Events
Alongside disciplinary and interdisciplinary career and skills development workshops, the Graduate Centre offers a range of programmes and events for doctoral candidates and postdocs, including informal networking events, a welcome event for new doctoral candidates, an annual UNiAGradZ PhD & Postdoc Day, and a lecture series. We are continually expanding our programmes and will regularly post updates here.
Scientia! The Graduate Centre’s lecture series

The Graduate Centre’s lecture series Scientia! features national and international speakers and seeks to expand early career researchers’ transnational and interdisciplinary engagement. By drawing attention to contemporary topics and discourses within the national and international higher education landscape, it reflects on the role of the university in the 21st century. In alignment with the 威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】 of Augsburg’s concept of the “network university,” Scientia! underscores the importance of collaborative research as a mechanism for solving society’s current and future challenges.
The 2024?Scientia! lecture is planned for the winter semester 2024/2025. Stay tuned!

Warum gute Wissenschaftskommunikation Voraussetzung ist für eine moderne und offene Wissenschaft, warum sie alle angeht und ihre F?rderung eine strategische Selbstverst?ndlichkeit sein sollte

Vortragender ist der namhafte Wissenschaftsjournalist, Autor und Moderator Herr Dr. Jan-Martin Wiarda, der in seinem ?Wiarda-Blog“ die tagesaktuellen Geschehnisse in Bildung, Wissenschaft und Politik beleuchtet und in die 2020 ins Leben gerufene BMBF-Initiative #FactoryWisskomm eingebunden war.
Im Rahmen seines Impulses wird Herr Dr. Wiarda einen f?cherübergreifenden Blick auf die gegenw?rtige Rolle sowie den Stellenwert von Wissenschaftskommunikation im deutschen Wissenschaftssystem werfen und gleicherma?en auf best-practice Beispiele eingehen, wie auch Hindernisse für erfolgreiche Wissenschaftskommunikation thematisieren.
Die anschlie?ende Podiumsdiskussion, an der neben Herrn Dr. Wiarda drei Wissenschaftler:innen verschiedener Qualifikationsstufen und unterschiedlicher Fakult?ten teilnehmen werden, rückt die individuellen und fachspezifischen Erfahrungen mit Wissenschaftskommunikation ins Zentrum und fragt nach Bedarfen und Angeboten zum Kompetenzerwerb in diesem Bereich.
Das fakult?tsübergreifende und interdisziplin?re Highlight-Event ist Teil der Angebote, die die 威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】izinische Fakult?t im Rahmen des zentralen Graduiertenzentrums der Universit?t Augsburg für die fachübergreifende Vernetzung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses etablieren m?chte. Zum Abschluss bietet daher das Networking-Get-Together mit Getr?nken und Snacks die Gelegenheit, sich in ungezwungener Atmosph?re untereinander sowie mit den Teilnehmenden der Podiumsdiskussion auszutauschen.

Ryan Tucker Jones holds a PhD in history from Columbia 威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】 in the City of New York. He is the author of Empire of Extinction: Russians and the North Pacific's Strange Beasts of the Sea, 1741-1867 (Oxford, 2014) as well as Red Leviathan: The Secret History of Soviet Whaling (威尼斯赌博游戏_威尼斯赌博app-【官网】 of Chicago Press, 2022).
